Busan University of Foreign Studies, together with Hankook University of Foreign Studies and a consortium formed by Dankook University and Chung-woon University, have been designated as 'Educational Institutes for Special Foreign Languages' by the Ministry of Education and National Institute for International Education last March 16. The designated institutes get a total educational support of 18 languages. BUFS was designated with 8 language support which include Burmese, Vietnamese, Arabic, Malaysian, Khmer, Turkish, Thai and Hindi.
This educational support project aims to reinforce the department education, infrastructure of special foreign language education and to cultivate relevant specialists.
BUFS Planning Team said, "This project will begin starting on the next semester. During the early stage, most of the expenditures will be used for research and development such as making public certification tests for special foreign languages. For this reason, students may not receive a direct support."
The project is planned to last for four years from 2018 to 2021. The team added, however, that, "As long as the relevant constituted laws exist, the project is likely to continue for relatively a long time."
